Perspective




linear perspective

Van Gough's Bed Room-Perspective Activity to do with children.

Step 1--Draw a rectangle

Step 2--Connect the corners with diagonal lines in an X.


Step 3--delete the x inside the rectangle the lines that extend outward represent the walls and floor of the room.

Step 4-- fill room with objects.

atmospheric perspective

Things get blurrier and blue-gray as they get further away because of atmospheric particles








Foreshortening


Things are big in the foreground and become continuously diminutive as it moves "away" from the viewer.


Overlapping Planes

Modeling


Use of Light and shadow altering value of color along an object as thought light were falling with greater intensity on some parts than others Chiaroscuro is an extreme form of modeling.

Grant Wood--farm landscapes (looks similar to the Palouse).
